Trauma and abuse often steal pieces of our Soul. It is often expressed in one or more Inner Selves that call to you from some place that seems far away. How do you know if you've suffered a Soul Theft, Kidnapping or Fragmentation? Here are some more assessment questions:

	Do you feel that guilt and shame stole parts of yourself, like the permission to be happy?
	Where you given a message that you would not be loved or accepted if you did not sacrifice aspects of yourself?
	Do you often do incongruent things, acts that don't seem like you at all, and of which you are later ashame or which create upheaval in your life?

Soul Retrieval may seem weird or esoteric, but it's more understandable if you remember that you are an infinite being made of conscious energy.

Every aspect of yourself, including the child you were at 3, 5, 8 or 11 is an energy configuration that still retains its child consciousness in your psyche. If this child was traumatized or emotionally sequestered, she may still be lost wherever she hid at the moment of trauma.

The aspects of that child that were stolen or repressed are not accessible to you now. These aspects may include specific memories of that time, talents, abilities or even developmental skills.

Your ability to dance or sing may be sequestered in this way. Your permission to be happy or your capacity to ground yourself in your physical existence or to make home may be inaccessible to you.

In a Soul Retrieval Journey, the shaman goes into a journey to find the place where these aspects were left behind and to entice them to come back to your conscious self, to the present.

Case Studies

The Singing Self: Rapunzel's Tower

For most of my adult life, I believed that I could not sing. Then I discovered that I was not tune-depth at all. I could hear the notes, but I could not string them together. When I tried to do this, I would hear terrible voices cowing inside my ears, and then I could not hear myself.

I found my Singing Self in several journeys that span years, until she finally came out of the curse in which she had been trapped by these words from my mother:

"Thank God that you don't know how to sing,

or you'll devour the whole world.

But God does not give wings

to the poisonous bird."

Terrible as this curse is, it was uttered with a smile by my mother, who was utterly unconscious of how she was projecting her toxic envy and how she was damaging my Soul.

Because of the severity of this wound, it took several journeys and emotional processes to bring back this child.

Today I sing on stage and use my voice to heal energy patterns.

Up in the Clouds

There was a part of her childhood missing, and this created memory gaps and a feeling of blurriness in her Personal Herstory. As we weaved together the story of her life, I heard the far away call of one of her Inner Children.

We went into a Soul Retrieval Journey quite smoothly, just as we talked. She found the missing part of her Soul.

I am in a plane.

Mom just died.

I'm going to my relative's home.

I don't like it there.

I want to stay with mom.

Mom is in heaven.

She is here, in these clouds I see out of the window.

I'll stay with mom in heaven.

And that part never made it to her relative's house. It translated in her life in an inability to settle, to create home. She was a traveler, but her family life was fragmented and she could not provide stability for her own children... until this little orphan girl returned. Then she bought a house and created a beautiful home atmosphere!
